DETROIT, April 29, 2025 ~ The sixth seeded Detroit Pistons survived game five of the first round of the NBA Playoffs against the New York Knicks 106-103 Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. Detroit’s All-Star point guard Cade Cunningham tallied a game-high 24 points while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out eight assists, leading his team to the second win of the 3-2 series in favor of New York.
Pistons forward Ausar Thompson came up huge on both ends, tying his career high with 22 points while grabbing seven rebounds. He was very effective against Knicks All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson, limiting him to a series low 16 points.
Forward Tobias Harris was also big for the Pistons, scoring 17 points and grabbing eight rebounds in 43 minutes. After a huge game four, Knicks forward Karl-Anthony Towns struggled against Harris. The All-Star only made 5-14 shots.

(CONTINUED) Without center Isaiah Stewart for a fourth straight game due to knee inflammation, center Jalen Duren stepped up down low. Duren grabbed 14 rebounds while recording nine points. He also finished with six assists.
After struggling with turnovers in game four, the Pistons evened the battle of giveaways with the Knicks. Both teams gave the ball up 13 times.
