The cardinals will elect a successor to Pope Francis, who died April 21, and will deliberate in the Sistine Chapel with no connection to the outside world. Votes will be held until a two-thirds majority is reached on a candidate, with white smoke from the Vatican chimney indicating a new pope has been chosen.
