Detroit Lions’ Rookies Share Excitement on First Day of Minicamp

DETROIT, May 9, 2025 ~ The Detroit Lions hosted their first day of rookie minicamp at the Meijer Performance Center in Allen Park Friday afternoon. All of the team’s NFL Draft picks were in attendance, including a number of undrafted free agents and try out players.

While the players settle into Detroit and get comfortable with the system, Michigan native and third round wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa shared the excitement he felt from being drafted by his home state team.

I saw the call from a 313 number and I just about passed out,” TeSlaa told WJR Correspondent Nick Lundberg about the night he was drafted. “It was very surreal, I am grateful to be here.”

(CONTINUED) Sixth round defensive end Ahmed Hassanein has been enjoying the amenities at the Lions facilities while adjusting to his new home after coming from Boise State.

The food, the nutrition, you can get something whenever you want,” Hassanein told WJR Correspondent Nick Lundberg. “There’s lobster mac and cheese in there and I’m like, ‘Wow, this is awesome!’”

First round pick and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams was limited in practice due to a heavy workload after a National Championship season at Ohio State.
