The Crookston Pirate Clay Target Team had their family fun night and awards banquet last week.
“We had a big turn out of family and friends with the students. The weather was again perfect for shooting and having fun outdoors. We had the grills going and making burgers and hot dogs with all the fixings and sides for an outdoor event like this,” said Coach Randy Prudhomme. “Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings and friends were all shooting with the students. Some started to recognize how difficult it can be. Not just hitting a small target flying away from you but to just hold and lift a shotgun in a safe manner 50 times a night.“
Coach Prudhomme added that the community support has been outstanding. “I am grateful for all of the community support we received this year from businesses and individuals to keep these kids outdoors, shooting and enjoying the safest sport in the state and nation.“
They also recognized the students who qualified as a Tier 1 team at nationals in Mason, Michigan. To qualify as a team, they need a minimum of 6 students (5 shooters and 1 alternate) who have an average above 19 and who have shot all 5 weeks. Members of the team are Greyson Ecker, Lukas Helgeson, Tate Hamre, Jacob Biermaier, Austin Thode, and Jayde Uttermark.
