EAST LANSING, June 2, 2025 ~ Michigan State University has hired J Batt as its next Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Prior to getting to MSU, Batt was the Athletic Director at Georgia Tech, where he led its football program to back-to-back bowl appearances for the first time since 2013-14. While at Georgia Tech, Batt was able to surpass previous athletic fundraising records by more than 40% and renovated and built multiple facilities such as the Dr. Thomas A. Fanning Student-Athlete Performance Center and Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field.
Before working at Georgia Tech, Batt served the University of Alabama from 2017-22 as the Executive Deputy Director of Athletics, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Revenue Officer. Batt was responsible for the launch of the Crimson Standard, Alabama Athletics’ 10-year, $600 million capital initiative.

Batt will be welcomed into the MSU family on Wednesday, June 4 for his introductory press conference. Batt’s contract will pay him around $1.8 million annually over a six-year contract.
