Clear Front Runner Emerges in Detroit Mayoral Race

DETROIT, June 3, 2025 ~ A new Detroit News and WDIV-TV poll shows that Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield has a strong lead over her eight other opponents in the 2025 mayoral race.

Sheffield currently leads with a 38% share of the poll, with Rev. Solomon Kinloch Jr. at 14%. The primary for the mayoral election, which will decide Mayor Mike Duggan‘s replacement, will take place Aug. 5.
