CHICAGO, June 4, 2025 ~ The Detroit Tigers scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to edge the Chicago White Sox in a tightly contested battle at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Detroit came out swinging, plating four runs in the first inning to set the tone early. However, the offense cooled off until Colt Keith delivered a clutch, game-winning RBI double in the eighth. Despite the mid-game scoring drought, every player in the Tigers’ starting lineup reached base at least once.

Riley Greene led the charge at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs, continuing his strong season.

After manager A.J. Hinch pulled Gipson-Long, the Tigers’ bullpen took over and shut the door. The relief corps — Tyler Holton, Will Vest, and Tommy Kahnle — combined to hold the White Sox scoreless the rest of the way, preserving the narrow victory.

The Tigers return to action on June 5 at 2:10 p.m. Eastern for the final game of the four-game series in Chicago. Casey Mize will take the mound for Detroit, while Sean Burke gets the start for the White Sox. The Tigers will look to secure a 3–1 series win in the Windy City.
