May Saw Smaller Inflation Rate than Expected

June 12, 2025 ~ The custom price index reported an inflation of consumer goods prices that was less than expected, not showing signs of President Donald Trump‘s tariff deals impacting consumer prices.

The CPI of May showed a 0.1% increase in prices, below previous economic forecasts. “It looks like inflation thus far hasn’t kicked up much as many people have expected because of the tariff policy that’s been pursued in the United States,” Patrick Anderson, CEO of Anderson Economic, told WJR. “We are going to see price increases in particular on cars, but they haven’t really been baked into a lot of consumer prices.
