EGF scored 5 runs in the sixth to beat Crookston Legion Baseball

The East Grand Forks Post 157 scored five runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat the Crookston American Legion Post 20 Baseball team 8-7 in a game played at Stauss Park in East Grand Forks.

FIRST INNING-
The first two Crookston batters were retired before Blake Melsa singled and Gavyn Hlucny doubled to score a run. Teagen Lubinski singled to right field to score another run, and Crookston led 2-0.
East Grand Forks was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with two groundouts and a strikeout.

SECOND INNING-
Crookston’s Isaiah Donarski singled with one out before the next two batters were retired.
EGF’s Anderson led off the bottom of the inning with a single, and Schmiedeberg tripled to score a run. After a strikeout, K. Boespflug singled to score a run to tie the game at 2-2. The next two batters struck out.

THIRD INNING –
Crookston regained the lead when a pitch hit Matt Contreras. The next batter popped out before Hlucny hit into a fielder’s choice. Tegen Lubinski ripped a line drive to score a run to give Crookston a 3-2 lead.
EGF’s first two batters grounded out before a single and two walks loaded the bases. Jake Satterlund walked to score a run and the game was tied at 3-3.

FOURTH INNING-
Crookston’s Carter Fee walked before Isaiah Donarski singled. Lucas Miller reached on an error, and a run scored to give Post 20 a 4-3 lead. Perala singled to left field, and Crookston
‘s Contreras hit a sacrifice fly to deep right field to score another run, and they led 5-3.

FIFTH INNING-
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with a fly out and two strikeouts.
EGF’s Anderson led off the bottom of the inning with a single and moved to second base on a wild pitch. The next batter flew out to center field. Anderson stole third base before the next batter struck out.
Crookston was forced to make a pitching change due to the pitch count and brought in Donarski to relieve Hlucny. Donarski got the first batter he faced to fly out to center field for the third out of the inning.

SIXTH INNING-
Donarski singled with one out to get things going in the sixth inning. Miller walked, and a pitch hit Perala to load the bases. Contreras singled to right field to score a run for a 6-3 lead. The next batter struck out before Hlucny laced a line drive to right field for a 7-3 lead with bases still loaded. The next batter struck out, and the half-inning was over.
The first two East Grand Forks batters popped out and lined out before N. Frize doubled to the center field fence. The next batter reached on an error, and a run scored. L. Anderson singled to score another run to get within a 7-5 deficit. A pitch hit Nowacki, and runners were at first and second base with two outs. The next batter walked to load the bases. H. Varnson singled up the middle to knock in two more runs, and the game was tied 7-7, and Crookston made a pitching change.
C. McDonald singled to score a run for an 8-7 lead. The next batter struck out and the inning was over as East Grand Forks plated five runs in the inning to take an 8-7 lead.

SEVENTH INNING-
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion and the game was over with EGF winning 8-7.

Crookston drops to 7-7 on the year and will play Ada on Monday.
