DETROIT, July 2, 2025 ~ The Pistons have replaced Malik Beasley’s shooting with former Michigan basketball guard Duncan Robinson.
Detroit acquired Robinson from the Miami Heat in a sign-and-trade deal that sent forward Simone Fontecchio to Miami. The 31-year-old Robinson signed a three-year, $48 million contract with the Pistons.

July 2nd, 2025 ~ Anthony Bellino of “‘Spin on Sports” dives into the Pistons’ signing of former Michigan Wolverine Duncan Robinson and how Robinson and he can fill the hole of Malik Beasley.
(CONTINUED) This move was prompted by the recent gambling accusations involving Beasley and Tim Hardaway Jr. signing with the Denver Nuggets. With both guards potentially off the team, the addition of Robinson helps fill a glaring hole in the Pistons’ shooting department.
Robinson averaged 11 points per game and shot 39.4% from three-point range during the 2024–2025 NBA season. He is a career 39.7% shooter from beyond the arc.
Robinson should be a key contributor for a Pistons team coming off its first playoff win since 2008. His ability to space the floor and fill Beasley’s previous role will be highly beneficial for Pistons star Cade Cunningham.
