DETROIT, June 29, 2025 ~ The Detroit Tigers (53-32), behind a 13 strikeout performance from Cy Young starting pitcher Tarik Skubal, which ties his career high, shutout the Minnesota Twins (40-44) 3-0 to win the series 2-1 against the American League Central foe.
Skubal finished the Sunday Night Baseball duel on ESPN only allowing one hit in seven innings. With the victory, Skubal’s record increases to 9-2 with a 2.15 earned run average. The Tigers have increased their lead in the AL Central to 11.5 games over the second place Cleveland Guardians.
Left fielder Riley Greene recorded his 19th home run while right fielder Kerry Carpenter added a home run and a triple of his own before leaving the game with an injury.

(CONTINUED) “I’m getting it checked out tomorrow,” Carpenter said about his right hamstring injury after the game. “Hopefully it’s not going to be too bad.” Carpenter has had issues with his hamstring for over a month.
With a day off scheduled for Monday, June 30, Detroit will begin the month of July on the road for a three game series against the Washington Nationals.
