A series of upcoming events hosted by the Hopkinsville-Christian County Human Rights Commission will celebrate local history, cultural diversity, and community unity.
Executive Director Raychel Farmer says the first event is the 8th of August celebration—Hopkinsville’s own version of Juneteenth.
The event is Friday, August 8th from 10 to 4 at the museum. Farmer says it will feature speakers, oral history presentations, crafts, and other activities.
Just a few days later, the Supper Club returns on Thursday, August 14th at 6 p.m., also at the museum.
Farmer says past Supper Clubs have featured cuisines from Kenya, Puerto Rico, India, and most recently, Scotland.
Looking ahead, the 51st annual Unity Breakfast is Thursday, October 23rd at the Bruce Convention Center.
The event will include the Hal and Betty Thurman Award, recognizing civil rights pioneers, as well as several Unity Awards.
Other awards include Volunteer of the Year and the Bernard Standard of Excellence Award.
